Schwab Foundation (Davos) announced
El-Ghamrawy as the Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2008.

 

  

 Ashoka

In recognition to his entrepreneurial endeavors in Sinai, Sherif El Ghamrawy was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2004. He developed an environmentally-friendly regional waste transfer station in the Sinai, which now handles the majority of garbage in Sinai, including the many hotels along the coast.  He is now helping the protectorate of Saint Catherine and the city of Taba develop a waste-management system, which, through training and advocacy, is quickly spreading across all of Egypt.

 

 

 Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC)

As a manager of Basata Eco-tourism project, Sherif El-Ghamrawy has been selected as a fellow in the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC). Hence, El-Ghamrawy promoted “Eco-tourism” in the ENCC to become the main stream for tourism in Egypt.


 Board of Trustees for Education in South Sinai and Nuweiba

Sherif El-Ghamrawy was selected to become one of the Board of Trustees for Education in Nuweiba. The board acts to develop the educational system in Nuweiba. El-Ghamrawy is selected in the board as an active member of the community, who has contributed through various projects in the education sector.
